If you don't want to hire a locksmith, and you can't take the door off its hinges, cut off the doorknob with a hacksaw or reciprocating saw. Then turn the mechanism with long-nosed pliers. I've done it before and it's not too difficult. Unfortunately, the lock is ruined. A locksmith can open a locked doorknob without damaging it. Get two thin steak knives take the first knife and slide the point up against the catch closest to the frame. push the catch in to the door. ( will only move a little at a time) depending on width of the gap. While holding in place take the second knife and repeat. Remove the door stop. This will expose the bolt and you may be able to slide it back into the door using a knife or similar object. Call a lock smith.
