card tricks
Sina asked:

I know that playing card games is Haram but what about doing magic tricks with cards?
OMG! What I’ve started!

OK brothers and sisters forget about it, I can live without it..

I would not ask the question if I knew the answer!

but IMO it’s not Haram! the reason why card games are Haram is that you way want to continue playing but with money!

Doing card tricks would not have the same effect..
Maria: I’m not that good in UNO so you’ll beat me lol but I’m very good in Yu-Gi-Oh! duel monsters game lol
Duel?

  1. Sina, I don’t think so its wise to play magic tricks.
The author of Asnaa Al-Mattaalib may Allaah have mercy upon him said: ‘It is forbidden to teach or do magic; also horoscope and predicting by looking to the sand, stones or barley, and conjuration are forbidden.’

Therefore to be on the safer side, don’t do it ?? ~! :)
Edit: just want to make it clear that I did not say its Haram but I said, its wise to be on the safer side and not play it. If you play tricks with UNO cards then I believe its ok.. but if you take Playing cards, then we have pics of a queen, king there joker too i guess.. so just avoid it. I would personally avoid it. I believe it is forbidden.

Edit: lolz.. m fine with x and zero.. paper games.. sweet and nice games… bubble gum bubble gum in a dish, how many pieces do you wish ?:)

  2. TEA?S Nafeez says:

Muslims are obliged to stay away from these acts and materials associated with these gambling.
The Shari’ah outlaws not only gambling but also outlaws the “instruments of gambling.

In a similar manner, Muslims are not only prohibited from alcohol but also prohibited from those places and activities specifically associated with consumption of alcohol, like bars.

There are card games that are not based on the traditional “deck of cards,” like some children’s games. These are not objectional. Allah knows best.

  3. uumm….probably

  4. The Weasel says:

iknow card tricks they amaze people when i do them

i take a deck of cards lay it in front of you and tell you to pick a card and what ever card i tell you to pick when you flip it over its the card i told you to pick

also i can take like 5 cards out of a deck tel you to pick one and i enver see it i then shuffle the cards take like 15 cards from the deck put them in your hand so they stick out a bit and then slap them out of your hand and then only one card remains in your hand and when you look at it it is the one you picked out of the deck

everyone i show them to is blown away

they get mad when i wont say how i do it either

EDIT i cant believe these answers above me i mean everytime i show people these tricks the people i show them to smile and laugh and try to figure out how i did it its all in fun

    guess fun cant be had

  8. heather k says:

they’re both Halal I know that already, there are some religious extremists that say it’s haram but never ever believe extemists
    so go for it

  9. Come on!!! This is shocking?? What’s so haram about card magic tricks?? Come on people, what’s haram about that?? It’s making me so angry that everyone’s saying EVERYTHINGS HARAM!!!! There’s nothing at all bad about them!!! Watch what you say is haram , because you’re all obviously mistaking HARAM with MAKROOH.

And how do you think a non-muslim will react to this, how about somebody who is interested in ISLAM and comes on here to find you guys talking about the slightest of things and calling them haram??? They’ll think ISLAM is so strict when it’s not meant to be harder for us its meant to be easy!!!!!

IF YOU’RE NOT USING THE CARD TRICKS TO GAMBLE THEN THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT!!!!! la hawla wala quwatta illah billah!!
!!!! steam coming out from my ears !!!!!

  10. why would it be haram? it’s not haram if theres no gambling involved. NOT EVERYTHINGS HARAM

  11. Well Magic is haram because it’s not true and shayton created it and tricks are fine as long as they are not like magic

  12. UmmAbdelHamid says:

    Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

    Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah

Card tricks, like “magic tricks” that are sleight-of-hand, are forbidden on the principle that they are deceitful. It is like playing at magic, and it is well known that all types of magic are forbidden in Islam.

Also, in regards to your comment about Yu-Gi-Oh. I’m not a fan of any of the Pokemon / Digimon / Yu-Gi-Oh genre, but I specifically forbid my son to watch Yu-Gi-Oh or to play any games associated with it because on the TV show, they specifically refer to the creatures that they use in the battles as “gods”. This is evident shirk and even though it is a cartoon, it should be avoided. It is even more important to have children avoid it because we do not want them to be comfortable with the concept of “gods” in opposition to Allah. And Allah knows best.

    Fi Aman Allah,

    Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid
