There are 4 kings, queens and jacks in a pack. If you select two kings, two queens and two jacks and keep the other two kings, two queens and two jacks tucked away. (Make sure you randomize colours and suits.) Lay the six cards on the table and say remember one. Pick up the cards and ask a maths question, when working out the answer everyone looks up. Then say the magic words and lay out the other six cards and pow its gone.
If you examine the cards in the Before and After sets, you will find that all of the cards in the Before set are missing from the After set! This is accomplished by showing multiple cards of each rank in each set. For example, the Before set will have a six of clubs and a six of hearts, while the After set will have a six of spades and/or a six of diamonds. (There has to be one less card in the After set than in the Before set so it looks as if a single card has been taken away, and the rest of the cards have been shuffled. It may be a six, or it may be some other card.) If you chose a six from the Before set, PRESTO! The six you chose is now gone! - LJS
