Where I work I have to do a magic trick for little kids. I'll try to explain the best I can:
1) Grad a regular deck of cards
2) Make 4 columns of cards with 4 cards in each row. you will have a total of 16 cards in a rectangular format.
3) Ask the person you are doing the trick for to think of one of the cards in his head but not to tell you. If other people are in the room, tell him to show it to everyone while you close your eyes. Before opening your eyes, make sure to ask if the card is placed back in the original spot so there would be know way of you knowing which card he/she choose/
4) Tell the person the row on the very bottom (the 4 cards going horizontally) is the first row, the next row up is the 2nd row, the next is the 3rd row and the very final row at the top of the rectangle is the 4th row.
5) Ask person which row his/her card is in
6) Remember this number!!!
7)Now, casually grab the card in the bottom right hand corner of the rectangle and place in upside down in your palm. Take the card next to it on the left (there shouldn't be a card on the other side) and proceed collecting all of the cards in that bottom row. The do the same with the next row starting with the card in the bottom right corner and so on until you have a nice mini deck in your hand. make sure the first card which was on the bottom right hand corner in on the bottom of the mini deck and the rest of the cards you collected are stacked on top of it.
8) Now, take the card which is facedown at the top of the deck and place it right side up in the top left hand corner of the rectanlge. Do the same with all of the cards so the rectanlge reforms only the cards are in different places. What you have done is turned the rectangle around so now Column 1 is row 1, column 2 is row 2, etc.
9) Ask him/her which row their card was in. Lets say it was three. What you do in your head is go to the third column (the four vertical cards which are in the second to last column) and then ask, "What row is your card in now?" lets say they say two. you already know it is one of those four cards in column 3, now you look at row two and BAM you know the card. its like a longitude lattitude deal.
10) Now, pick up the cards in any fancy order counting them in your head. Flip them upside down so they are again in a mini-deck in your hand. Once you pick up his/her card, Stop Counting! just remember which number his/hers is. thats the only one you need to know. Make sure to place the cards underneath the first card this time as apposed to before.
11) make four little crosses with four cards in each cross. One card acts as the top, two on the sides are the arms, and then one on the bottom. As you are laying out these crosses count in your head which number you are on. Once you place down your card, remember where it is!
12) Ask him/her to point to 2 of the 4 piles. Which ever 2 he chooses, you take away the opposite two if his/her card is in one of the two crosses, OR you take away the two crosses he/she pointed to if the card is in the other two crosses.
13) with two crosses left, you ask them to point to one of the crosses. Again, if they point to the one with the card in it, take the oppostie away and vice versa.
14) with one cross left which you know contains his/her card, ask him/her to point to two of the four cards. Again, take away the ones which are not his/her card.
15) Finally, with only two cards left, have him/her point to one of the two cards. Take the one that isn't his/her card and BINGO! there it is.

I know this trick may seem complicated, but it is really simple. I mean, you know the card right away, you just have to remember how to properly collect the cards and re-put them out.

Depends on the card trick. Most are usually explained by some simple procedural thing the magician does and hides with misdirection; that is the basis of all magic: the magician says he's doing one thing, and appears to be actually doeing that, but really something else is happening, hidden or distracted from.

Here's a simple trick; and the only thing you need to do is figure out what the bottom card of the deck is. It should illustrate the process.

OK, get a glimpse of the bottom card, which is really pretty easy, even if the deck has been shuffled. What I do is have someone else shuffle the desck and put it down on the table.

Then I pick up the deck, and as I say "You've shuffled, and I can't know where any of the cards are..." at that exact moment I tilt the deck so I can see the bottom, while continuing to look right in the eyes of the shuffler.

OK, I know the bottom card. I put the deck right back down on the table and say: "Please cut it in two piles."

They do it, and I say (and this is the basic misdirection) "Now I'll just mark it where you cut it..." and as I say this, I pick up what was the bottom of the deck, and I cross it on top of the other half at an angle. Then I say: "There's no way I could know where any of the cards are, but I'm going to name the exact card you cut to." I then name the bottom card then picking up the cards crossed on top of the pile, I show it to them.

If you8 do this with the right rythm, it's a great and simple card trick.

I learned it from Harry Lorrayne, a card and memory master.

No one will mind my sharing it, because unless you really try it as I described it, you'll never know how easy and convincing it can be.

It's all in the delivery.

line up the cards with one red then one black, do it for all 52, have someone pick a card at random from the deck, let them hold it and memorize it, then let them put it randomly back in the deck, tell them you can tell them their card, look through the cards and when you find 2 black or red cards together you have found it.

Hold the entire deck of cards in your hand minus the jokers. Then throw them on the ground. It's called 52 card pick up.
