You have to know which card is theirs. If you know which card is theirs because you deal the piles in a certain way then you can ask them to ‘point to any pile’ or any 2 piles or whatever. If the pile they point to does not have their card then get rid of it. If the pile they point to does have their card then get rid of the other piles.
Eventually you will be down to 2 cards and you ask them to point to one. If they point to the one that is their card then ask them to turn it over and it is theirs . If they point to the one that is not theirs then take that one away.
By just telling them to point to a pile/card but not telling them what you are going to do it will make it look like they are picking something when they really are not.
