It’s called “sawing a woman in half”.
It’s done in many different ways, the oldest method was to have two ladies used in the act. One would would be secreted inside bottom of box and have her head stuck out the top end and another her feet out the bottom. But this required a overly large box. There are other ways which require only one person, but I am not going to tell you about them, as a magician is not supposed to tell the secret. It ruins the fun and attraction of the trick.
She isn’t really being cut. They have fake legs and stuff like that. I couldn’t find the complete explanation to that illusion but here is one other trick that david copperfield does.

Sawing a woman in half. I can show you if you’ll assist me
For Most Magic Effects, there are more than one way to produce them.
For “Sawing a Lady in Half”-You can use what’s called Black Art. It’s black background against white costume and props. There’s a LOT that can be done with this including sawing a lady in half.
-You can use two ladies, one concealed in the bottom half. One visible to the audience whom is “cut” in half.
-You can combine the two.
-You could use an amputee in the act. the girl cut in half wheres an identical mask to the amputee and the bottom half is where the original goes instead of the top half.
I like this method because it can give purpose and a fun experience to someone who is handicapped, and people who have seen this trick before aren’t expecting it.
Remember how it’s done is only half the battle, SHOWMANSHIP, MISDIRECTION, you need to master these in conjunction with magic tricks before investing in a large scale stage illusion!

It is done by putting a woman in a box, then saw through the middle of the box and then put 2 blades in to seperate box.
Some people think it is done with 2 people in the box, but l have seen a version of it where the boxes are removed after the blades, and the woman is in 2 pieces!
