he has a fake hollow rubber thumb or finger hidden in his hand, when he pushes the ball down into hand he is actually pushing it into the tip of the fake thumb or finger. Foam or paper is always used because it can depress and become really small. Then with the last push of the ball into his hand he actually slips the fake thumb or finger over his own so that when he opens his hands the ball is gone but his hands appear to look normal.
its just like a half of a ball that he like turns so it fits up against the back of the other ball
