magic trick
Jan Jan N asked:

You could give me a website/or just teach me but be sure that it is related to math, t would be better if it has a mathematical explanation behind the trick, and requires materials not too expensive.

  1. i’ve seen one. it was a magic ball. all numbers from 1 - 99 (or 10 - 99 i guess) has symbols. then you have to subtract the sum of the digits from the number you picked. the symbol of the result will appear on the magic ball.

    ex.:
    you choose 35:
35 - (3+5) = 27 (the symbol of 27 will appear on the magic ball)

    explanation:
let t be the tens digit and u the units digit. then,
    10t + u is the original number
    following the procedures:
    10t + u - (t + u)
    = 9t
which is obviously divisible by 9. so any number will have a result a divisible by 9. all numbers divisible by 9 have the same symbol to be sure. and that will be the one to appear in the magic ball.

to do this you may need 99 (or 89) symbols(not all distinct) and distribute them among the numbers. of course all divisible by 9 must have the same symbol.

did you get it? actually i originally saw it on bored.com and just choose the one that said magic ball or just google it.
