i think the 2 card monte is the ultimate “hey show me a card trick” - type of effect. always hits hard.
for a bit more complicated one, i recommend kaos by daniel garcia. it leaves people speechless.

I know only 1. Lame, but it makes people laugh.

Take a piece of paper that people cannot see thru.
Such as a note pad.
Use a black marker with a medium point.’

Standing or sitting across from someone (groups work better). ask one of the person’s looking at you;

“Pick a number 1 to 1,000, and I will try to guess your answer.”

Then write on the note pad in big letters “NO”

Not showing the person, or person’s what you wrote, ask “was it eight hundred and twelve?”

They will answer, “NO.”

You then turn the pad around, show them that you wrote NO and say “Well, there is your answer!”
