It wasn’t like some random person, It was a really famous magician, I just can’t remember. Also, what was Houdini’s last trick, the infamous one?

  2. Yes, the really famous magician is Houdini. His last trick was the one you mentioned when he died.

this scene like this was depicted in the motion picturre-movie The Prestige and the famous mnagician was Houndini- he is often reffered to as a master escapologist

  4. Houdini didn’t die in a magic trick. He died when someone punched him in the stomach so hard it ruptured his appendix. I’ll forgive y’all though, because I remember the old Houdini biopic ended with him almost dying in the Chinese Water Torture Tank. I can’t find any information on a famous magician failing in it. It hasn’t been the most popular, but even when it was, it’s tough to screw up. Much more dangerous was the time they tied Houdini in a burlap sack, placed that in a padlocked and chained shut chest, and dropped it through a hole in the ice of a wintry river.

Yeah — it looked like Tony Curtis as Houdini in the 1950s movie died in the water tank escape, but Houdini actually died of a ruptured appendix/peritonitis. It’s a good movie though.

The poularized version and the person Harry Houdini are one in the same, however it was not the TRICK that killed him, it was a ruptured appendix.

The answer by Glotof is right, and Houdini is probably who you’re thinking of because a LOT of people mistakenly think that that’s how Houdini died.

  8. Venus 1485AD says:

Harry Houdini (born Ehrich Weiss) often did that trick, and it never killed him. He could take punches to the belly when he was prepared, but a student hit him there unexpectedly. His appendix was ruptured, and he developed peritonitis. He fought his illness for days, but at last, he told his wife that he thought it was going to beat him. He died October 31, 1926. Some see significance in his dying on Halloween.
