How does my brother do that card trick?

My brother showed me this card trick where i pick any card and then stick it back on top of the deck. He then hands me the deck and lets me hide the card anywhere i want to. I’m allowed to shuffle too. He then looks at the cards and finds my card…every single time. Does anybody have any idea how he does this?

Simple card trick for my 5 year old brother?

I’ve tried googling it, and its not working out well. I taught him one, and when he did it for show and tell at school, it didn’t work. I guess he needs a simpler one, and I taught him the simplest one I know. Any ideas? It should be one he can do for an audience, which is why I couldn’t find any good websites.
